Conceived from a passion to share authentic coffee house ambiance, the first Java House was launched in Iowa City on the second floor of Prairie Lights Books in 1994. The same year the Washington Street location opened its doors. Guests instantly warmed to The Java House and its relaxed, inviting atmosphere. The unique coffee bar, experienced baristas, and quality coffees guarantee individually tailored perfection in each cup. Antique furnishings with overstuffed chairs and couches offer a comfy respite to catch up with friends, take in current newspapers, or crack open a textbook. On Fridays, live music and engaging conversation become part of the vibrant scene as The Java House hosts local public radio shows Java Blend & The Exchange and at night, local artists. The Java House, now in seven locations throughout the Iowa City area, is a beloved daily ritual for many in the community. After over a decade of providing a rich coffee house experience, The Java House continues to take pleasure in brewing its own local blend.
LOVE the girls at the Pommerantz West Java. They're super-friendly and always make good suggestions for amateurs like myself! :-)
